As we start a new year many people look forward and set goals for their lives.  Frequently though, little thought is given to celebrating the successes of the past year or examining why a goal was missed.  This month let's look at self-discipline and accountability to assist you in meeting your goals for 2024.  Let's start with what self-discipline means to you.

 Quote

"Self-discipline is the ability to do what you should do when you should do it whether you feel like it or not." ---Albert Hubbard

How you feel about self-discipline may be different for you than your spouse, friend, or co-worker.  For some people it's easy to stay focused and do things as they are needed, while others struggle.  If you don't have a clear idea of what that looks like for you, it could make reaching a goal more difficult.

Today's Coaching Challenge

When you think of self-discipline, do you know it makes life easier, are you disciplined with some things and not others, or do you just groan and wish you didn't need to think about it ever?

No matter how you answer that question you will have a place to start.  If you know it makes life easier, then you're probably taking action as needed.  If you are sometimes disciplined look at where you might be holding back and does that area of your life need more attention.  If you groan, then you may be stopping yourself from making progress due to lack of taking action or inconsistency.

Action to take

Ask yourself whether becoming more disciplined will make your life easier this year and help you achieve more of your goals.  It's your decision, there is no right or wrong,
